A Day Full Of Waterfalls And Banyon Trees.

With the Caronavirus lingering around the world we decided it best to high-tail it home to be safe. A few changes to our plane flights and a cancellation of our week on Oahu actually came fairly easily with no extra monetary charges. We arrived home safely and will now try to put together a few remaining posts from the big island. Hope you all enjoy the pictures.

Rainbow Falls just north of our home base of Hilo
Check out the mini-rainbow at Rainbow Falls.

The banyon trees are not as big as the giant redwoods but are fabulously interesting to walk through and around.

There is a road in Hilo called Banyon Tree Drive. This is a neatly manicured road that has trees planted at different times over the past 100 years. The trees were mostly planted by famous folks who took the time to visit the Big Island.

Here is the tree that FDR planted back in the 1930s
This tree was planted by King George V
This tree stood out majestically to us as we walked through a local park on the water.
This root system is fabulous!
There is much Japanese influence in the groundskeeping at all the local parks.
These cats have the local Hawaiian attitude down to a tee.
More of the same cat family.
We found this signage to be hilarious! The big island is pretty much overrun by its chicken population.
Why did the chicken cross the road anyway?? In this case we figured it was to escape the wild boar that also live wildly on the island.
